First Day of School

Both parents and children are happy to be back at school, and do not wish to return to distance learning. Early morning on the first day of school, students began gathering at the assembly area. After the many weeks of distance learning, which was challenging for children, parents and teachers. The first day back to the classroom was emotional for both students and teachers.

Rev. Fr. Arockia Sheelan blessed each and every classroom and the teachers for the new academic year.

St Andrews Feast

The feast of St. Andrew was celebrated on 31st November 2021. A meaningful mass celebrated in the school premises at 8 am. The main celebrant Rev. Fr. Lazarus Chawdi, Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier’s Church Chinchwad celebrated mass.

Our students enjoyed the in house picnic arranged with in the campus on the occasion of St. Andrew’s Feast Day. There were different games, rides, magic shows, puppet show arranged for the students, which ended with a sumptuous lunch.

Childrens Day

“Children are the Lord’s reward and gift” (Psalm 127:3)

November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day or Bal Diwas every year in India. The special day is celebrated in remembrance of India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, born on November 14, 1889, he was also known as Pandit Nehru. Nehru, who was fondly called Chacha Nehru or simply Chachaji, was very popular amongst children for his love. November 14 marks Nehru’s devotion to welfare, education and development of children and young people.

A day marking childhood, and to make this event a memorable for our little ones, St. Andrew’s High School, celebrated Children’s Day on 14 November 2021 in a virtual program. The teachers had put up some activities. The day focused on children and their enjoyment. The day commemorated with immense joy, enthusiasm and magnificence. The students were overwhelmed and enjoyed the day.

Christmas Celebration

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Christmas is a festival celebrated with great happiness and joy. The kids are most excited about the celebration. The school is decorated by students with handmade mistletoe, bells. reath etc. The stage is also decorated by the students.

The beginning of the program is initiated by prayers. The teacher’s in acted the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas carols are sung. At last one of our teacher dressed in the costume of Santa clause roams on bike and throws gifts among students, especially kids. Every student received a Christmas cake and treats in their respective classes from their teachers. The Christmas and New Year celebration are done on the same day as school closes for winter vacation. The ending day of the year and before the beginning of the school holiday is cherished by a beautiful celebration.

Plantation Drive

Nature is God’s most beautiful creation. It felicitates the growth, development and nourishment of all its creatures. “Tree Plantation Drive” was organized in our school by the management. It was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Arockia Sheelan. The campaign’s main aim was to direct student’s mind in constructive activities with the positive outcome to contribute to the society.

The students brought various saplings including Ashoka, Neem, Mango etc. The students participated in the drive enthusiastically and helped each other in planting the saplings. All the saplings were planted in the school ground by students.

Prefect Investiture Ceremony

“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”

The Prefect Ceremony of St. Andrew’s High School was held on 16th Feb 22 in the school premises. It was a morning filled with enthusiasm and excitement for the newly elected prefects from Std. 1st to 10th. The inauguration ceremony commenced with lighting of the lamp by the Principal Fr. Arockia Sheelan. The elected Prefects were sworn into their new role after which Principal Rev.Fr. Arockia Sheelan addressed the prefects with words of encouragement and guidance.

Republic Day Celebration

The Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at St. Andrew’s High School on 26th January. The students gathered in front of the school building energetically to take part in the festivities.

The event began at 8 am with the unfolding of the Indian National Flag followed by National Anthem. The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for their country through various performances.

Sports

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

To make our students more energetic and strong our school has made arrangement for games and sports. On a daily basis our students play in the ground. To make the academic session interesting, annual sports celebrations are held.

The sports day may be celebrated for a single day but actually the games start a month before. An enthusiastic celebration for one whole month. During this month various outdoor games selection rounds, semi-final rounds and final rounds are conducted. Students are selected for various houses like Red, Blue, Green and Yellow by the team captains and sports faculty coordinator.

On the sports day, flags are pitched in the school campus. All the students will be participating in different activities and faculties will be guiding them in organizing various events. Every sports person wears their own house color dress. Every year a famous sports person is invited as the chief guest to preside over the function.

St. Andrew’s High School organized an award ceremony on the 27th June 2022 to felicitate its meritorious students of Std. X. The students were felicitated by the Principal Rev. Arockia Sheelan.

International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and Teachers at St. Andrew’s High School on 22nd Wednesday 2022 with great enthusiasm.

Students from Std. I to Xth demonstrated various asanas. Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asanas, importance of these were explained.

The celebration concluded with the speech by our Principal. He encouraged students to practice regular yoga to remain fit and improve concentration.

Parents and Grandparents day

“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you” (Deuteronomy 5:16)

Parental love is the only love that is truly selfless, unconditional and forgiving. St. Andrew’s High school, celebrated Parents Day and Grandparents day on 26th July 2022 to commemorate the Feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim. The program started with a meaningful mass celebrated by Fr. Jason, Asst Parish Priest of St. Ignatius church Khadki.

A short but meaningful programme was presented by the students to honor the parents and appreciate their efforts in bringing up their children. The students used their creativity and prepared Parents Day cards and presented the cards to their parents and it was an emotional moment to see them hug and kiss each other, a sign of affection among them and the healthy bond that they share with each other. Our principal Rev. Fr. Arockia Sheelan gave the message to the parents and the children.

The celebration ended on a happy note with a small breakfast.

Independence Day

Independence day is celebrated on August 15th every year to commemorate India’s freedom from the British rule in 1947.

Independence day was celebrated at St. Andrew’s High School campus on 15th August at 7:45 am. The chief guest was Mr. Ajay Bankhele welcomed and introduced by our principal Rev. Fr. Arockia Sheelan. The chief guest hoisted flag. The school campus was beautifully decorated and various programs were held in school.

Teachers Day

To commemorate the birth of the second President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a philosopher and a great teacher, 5th September every year is celebrated as Teacher’s Day. His contribution towards Indian education is undeniable.

The Teachers play a major role in making their students responsible citizens of tomorrow and good human beings. Hence to express their gratitude, the students of St. Andrew's High school had put up a wide range of activities.

The program started with lighting of the lamp by our Principal Rev. Fr. Arockia Sheelan. The students performed different cultural activities and fun filled games for the teachers. The Principal reminded the students of the tireless labor and love all the teachers put in to bring them up as knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. All the teachers applauded overwhelming zeal and enthusiasm of the students for making such a glorious event to cherish forever.

We commemorated the death anniversary of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, by the students. St. Teresa devoted her entire life to serve the poor and the needy people. Despite being a non-Indian she had spent almost her whole life helping the people of India. She was undoubtedly a saintly lady with lots of kindness and compassion in her.

Annual Day

The theme of this year’s annual day was truly unique ‘Once upon a time’. The programme was based on classic bedtime stories like Cinderella, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, etc. to name a few.

The school campus was decorated in a wonderful manner that truly looked like something out of a storybook… Mrs. Irene Menezes graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The programme ended with a spectacular dance by all the Disney princesses with fireworks that lit the night sky.. The show was indeed a grand success.

Convocation Day

“CONVOCATION DAY IS THE BEGINNING OF FUTURE FILLED WITH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS”

Convocation at St. Andrew’s High School is a wonderful way to end a memorable Pre-primary school year! It is a time to honour the children who have spent together in the kindergarten years-Nursery, LKG, UKG. Amidst Academic, Co-curricular Activities and their hectic schedules in Kindergarten, the children and teachers of UKG have their eyes focused on one big event – “THE CONVOCATION DAY” in the academic calendar.

The beams of laughter, the tears of sorrow, the hard work, appreciation are part of the great day. The cultural extravaganza put up by each and every child is most important event of the day for the children, teachers and support staff.

It is an awe inspiring day when children walk the ramp adorned in traditional convocation gowns and caps designed by the school. The smiling faces are welcomed by rapturous applause from the parents as they receive the graduation certificates on the stage from the Principal. Children also receive special appreciation certificate for their special abilities and qualities.

After 3 years in pre-primary the little sanities gradually grow into butterflies ready to flit away into the primary section.
